Bivacco is a display font inspired by mountain architecture, particularly mountain lodges and
bivouacs.
Bivouacs embody the challenge of minimal living in extreme geographical conditions. This
translates into an essentiality of functional requirements and a radicalness of architectural
solutions that often make them bolder than low-altitude shelters, as well as declined in a multitude of abstract forms.
The research phase defined the overall mood of the font: with a focus on the architecture of the
Italian Alps, recurring lines were identified (sharp diagonals and curved lines, elementary and
hyper-geometric shapes), then reproduced in the letters. The digitization of the font then focused on the inclusion of unexpected structural details,
with unusual effects on rhythm and distinctive glyphs that recall the extreme architectural
rationalization.
Currently, the font is available in the Latin version with Semibold weight.
