The "Finding a Way" project aims to analyze and compare awarded Wayfinding projects, which have set a standard for graphic design excellence, connecting people to places through directional guidance in public spaces. The focus includes stations, airports, and non-places identified by Marc Augè. The analysis is presented in a book that delves into and compares each project, covering font types, photographs, supports, and the sign system, along with the color palette. Each element, often underestimated, plays a crucial role in navigating familiar and unfamiliar environments. Wayfinding becomes instrumental during a journey, making an unknown place recognizable.
From this analysis, a proprietary Wayfinding System was developed. Comprising modular squares, it allows the use of pictograms and text individually or in combination. Pictograms follow the forms of the Suisse Int'l font used in the book. The system's modularity enables support use in any context, ensuring flexible applications for effective orientation.
