How to safeguard a heritage consisting of intangible elements such as traditions, dialects, popular festivals and traditional arts? This thesis project aims to address this challenge by developing a project oriented on the Sicilian Region. The importance of preserving intangible cultural expressions has been highlighted by UNESCO since 2003. In Italy, intangible heritage is represented by different aspects, but its preservation is often lacking due to difficulties in recognition and communication. The focus of the project is on the Sicilian Region and its Register of Intangible Heritage (REIS), a digital archive created in 2005. A critical shortcoming of the REIS is the lack of effective communication. The project aims to review the REIS with a systems approach, seeking to define new channels to make the archive more dynamic and engaging. The goal is not only to improve digital communication, but also to expand the registry's initiatives by actively engaging the local community and attracting tourists.
