The project developed from a research on children's workshops and the Atelier space of the Reggio Children Approach. The Atelier is an alternative learning place that focuses on the multiple expressiveness of children through different activities. The aim of the project was to apply the atelier concept to individual visual communication workshops for children.
First, a methodological approach was created focusing on three fundamental elements: space, materials and dynamics of interaction. Subsequently, three workshops were developed, under the name “Warming Up Kids”. The title not only recalls the gesture of physical and mental warm-up, but also the focus on global warming, reflecting the themes explored in the workshops, tested during a dedicated event. Finally, to graphically return the experience of the event, instant books of each workshop and a graphic work were created, to archive the process, return it and address new interlocutors. It contains various contents: a theoretical part dedicated to the approach, instructions for replicating the workshops and photos of the event.
