Highlights from 5+1 hosted by Ascionemagro
Pittogramma
30 September 2025
On Thursday, September 25th, the very first 5+1 event at Ascionemagro took place.
The event exceeded our expectations: five young graphic designers under 30 years old visited the Milan-based studio Ascionemagro, founded by Valentina Ascione and Onofrio Magro, who created a warm and genuine atmosphere that involved everyone present.
Valentina and Onofrio displayed key projects throughout the studio, illustrating the crucial steps that have marked its evolution over the years. This naturally shaped the conversation with the guests, as the hosts guided them through each project, sharing not only the stories behind the work but also their backgrounds and insights into their practice.

After an engaging tour and discussion, pizzas were ordered, and we at Pittogramma introduced the project itself with a brief presentation of our sponsors and supporters. Once the pizzas arrived, the evening shifted into an even more informal gathering.
Over food and beers, we exchanged thoughts about the young designers’ backgrounds and their perspectives on the future. Our conversation touched on important topics such as university environments, teaching approaches, and the differences between Italian and international schools. The central theme, however, was artificial intelligence — a subject increasingly relevant today and equally engaging for both younger and older generations.

We would like to thank our sponsor Readymag and our supporters ViewSonic, Paper&People, Presspoint Milano, Glyphs, and Birra Castello.
In addition to these sponsors and supporters, we made a targeted open call to independent type foundries from our archive, inviting them to include materials in the tote bags as a way to showcase their work. This time, we were happy to have contributions from Formula Type and Zetafonts, who shared some great materials and gadgets alongside those of our supporters.
