Paradiso artificiale

Trabocchi are ancient fishing machines from Italy’s
Adriatic coast, symbols of sustainable architecture and
shared knowledge. Built for fishing without boats, they
once embodied a rare harmony between man and nature.
Today, modernization and restaurant conversions have
reduced their accessibility and meaning.

This project reflects on their contemporary role through
research and creative fieldwork. The graphic projects
collected in the book—such as Sottopelle, Trabucche
Memory, and others—were developed by a group of
creatives in a multidisciplinary way, to enhance the
trabocchi’s artistic potential and offer a new perspective.
Presented at the Museo Civico Petrone in Vieste, the
works reconnect these structures with the community.

Could trabocchi become sea sentinels, cultural hubs, or
recycling centers? The aim is to inspire new visions for
their reintegration into landscape and society.
